First Aid

Since the 1st of October, 2013 it has been the employer’s responsibility to provide the first aiders in the workplace. All organizations must ensure by law that they have a sufficient number of employees who possess a first-aid qualification to fulfil their first-aid needs at all times. Employers must ensure that their provision is ‘adequate and appropriate in the circumstances.

AOSH UK First Aid Qualifications have been produced in guidelines with Health and Safety Executive (HSE), Skills for Health and In line with the latest developments in practice. AOSH UK qualifications are designed to equip individuals to manage medical situations and provision in the workplace.

Courses

Who needs this qualification?

Designed for learners wishing to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding to enable them to provide appropriate care and manage life-threatening conditions, minor illness and injuries. It is also ideal for people who have a specific responsibility to provide basic first aid in voluntary and community activities.

Course Content

The qualification covers a range of essential emergency first aid topics including:

• Role and responsibilities of a first aider,
• Recognizing signs and symptoms of injury and illness,
• Managing unconscious casualties,
• Cardiopulmonary (CPR),
• Responding to incidents, such as choking or external bleeding

Assessment method
Assessed by a practical demonstration and written exams

Who needs this qualification?

This qualification has been developed for those already working, or preparing to work, in the industry and who have been identified in the company’s first aid risk assessment as being required to provide first aid in the workplace.

Course Content

Learners will develop the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of first aid situations, including:

• Assessing an incident,
• Managing an unresponsive casualty,
• Cardiopulmonary (CPR)
• Heart attacks,
• Choking,
• Head and spinal injuries,
• Fractures,
• Anaphylaxis and more

Assessment method
Assessed by a practical demonstration and written exams

This qualification is made up of 2 Units which are assessed separately:
• Unit 1: 2 Emergency First Aid at Work also form part of this assessment.
• Unit 2: Recognition and Management of Illness and Injury in the Workplace

Who needs this qualification?

This qualification is designed to provide learners with the first aid skills they require when working in an environment with children. The Level 3 Paediatric First Aid is suitable for learners who are responsible for children. Learners will become familiar and react according to an emergency situation with a child or infant.

Course overview

Learners will develop the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of paediatric first aid situations, including:
• Assessing an emergency situation,
• Dealing with an unresponsive infant or child,
• Cardiopulmonary (CPR Choking,
• Meningitis,
• Head and spinal injuries,
• Anaphylaxis,
• Asthma and more

Assessment method
Assessed by a practical demonstration and written exams

This qualification is made up of 2 Units which are assessed separately:
• Unit 1: 2 Emergency First Aid at Work also form part of this assessment.
